How to use every feature in Expense Tracking
A complete walkthrough of what the app can do, and how to use each part of it — from logging your first transaction to locking the app with a PIN.
Expense & Income Tracking
Every entry in Expense Tracking is a transaction — either money in (income) or money out (expense). Logging one takes seconds: pick a type, an amount, a category, and you're done. Add a note if you want extra context later.
- Tap the + button from the dashboard to add a transaction
- Choose Income or Expense, enter the amount, and pick a category
- Optionally add a note, date, or time
- Use the search bar and filters on the Activity tab to find past transactions by type, category, or keyword
Smart Analytics
Every transaction you log automatically feeds your dashboard's charts — no separate setup. Bar charts show your spending trend over time, and the category breakdown shows exactly where your money is going this month.
- View your monthly income vs. expense trend on the dashboard's Overview chart
- See a full spending-by-category breakdown, with percentages, on the Spending Breakdown screen
- Switch between weekly, monthly, and all-time views to zoom in or out
Budget Planning
Set a weekly or monthly spending limit for any category, and Expense Tracking tracks it against your real transactions automatically — with an alert before you go over.

Keep track of recurring bills — rent, electricity, subscriptions — and get reminded before they're due, with no internet needed.
- In Personal mode open the Manage tab and pick Bills; in Business mode go to Settings → Bill Reminders
- Add the bill's name, amount and due date, and choose how often it repeats
- Pick when to be reminded — on the day, a few days before, or up to two months before
- Mark it paid with a tap; every payment is kept in the bill's history
Loan Management
Track money you lent or borrowed separately from regular expenses, with due dates, overdue alerts, and one-tap settlement — full or partial.

Switch to Business anytime to manage multiple businesses, track customers and vendors with a running balance, log daily sales, and see a full Profit & Loss report — kept completely separate from your personal transactions and budgets.
- Switch to Business from Settings, or pick it the first time you open the app
- Add customers and vendors to your ledger and track what they owe or you owe them
- Log a quick daily sales total, or itemize each sale individually
- Open Profit & Loss to see revenue, cost of sales, and net profit for any period
Share Your Business With Staff
With Premium, invite up to 3 people to a business — free for them — so they can add sales and expenses from their own phones.
- You need to be signed in (see Account, Backup & Sync)
- Go to Settings → Manage business → Share business, search their email and tap Invite
- Choose Staff (adds sales and expenses, sees only their own), Manager (sees and changes everything) or a custom set of permissions
- They sign in to the app with that email and accept the invite
- Tap See activity to see who added, changed or deleted what — and turn on notifications for any person
- Use Transfer ownership to hand the business to someone else; you stay in as a Manager
Savings Goals
Set a monthly savings target and watch your progress update automatically as you log income and expenses — visible right on your dashboard.
Read the full Savings Goals guide →Period Comparison
See how this week or month stacks up against the last one — income, expenses, and the percentage change — so you can spot trends before they become habits.
- Open the Activity tab and switch to Compare
- Choose Today, This Week, or This Month to see it against the previous equivalent period
- Compare income and expenses side by side, with the percentage change highlighted
Custom Categories
Expense Tracking comes with 26+ built-in categories, and you can add your own with a custom name, icon, and color — for both income and expenses.
- Go to Settings → Manage Categories
- Tap the + icon to create a new category, or edit/reorder existing ones
- Toggle any category off if you don't use it, without deleting your past transactions
Currencies & Languages
Switch between 60+ currencies — including USD, PKR, INR, EUR, and SAR — with a single tap. Every amount across the app updates to match immediately.
The app is also available in 17 languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Turkish, Indonesian, Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Japanese and Korean.
- To change language, open Settings → Language and search for yours
- Open Settings → Currency
- Search for and select your currency
- All existing transactions and charts display in the new currency's symbol and formatting
PIN Lock & Security
A PIN lock keeps your financial data private if someone else picks up your phone.
- Go to Settings → Security and enable App PIN Lock
- Set a 4-digit PIN — you'll be asked for it every time the app opens
- Forgot your PIN? If you're signed in, tap Forgot PIN? and we'll email you a code to reset it without losing any data
Account, Backup & Sync
An account is optional. Sign in with just your email to back up your data and use it on more than one phone — there's no password.
- Go to Settings → Account, enter your email and type the 6-digit code we send you
- Your data is backed up and kept in sync on every phone signed in with the same email; data already on a phone is combined, never replaced
- Cleared something by mistake? Restore from cloud brings back data cleared in the last 30 days
- To delete your account, go to Settings → Danger Zone → Delete account (or use the delete account page). It closes at once and is removed after 30 days — sign in again within 30 days to undo
Export & Share
Send reminders and statements as tidy PDFs, or take your data into a spreadsheet.
- Open a bill, loan or ledger entry and tap Share to send a PDF reminder over WhatsApp, email or any app
- After a payment, tap Share receipt to send proof it was paid
- On the Activity page, tap Export to save transactions as PDF, CSV or Excel
Backup & Import
Signed in? Your data is already backed up for you. Without an account, save your own backups — or bring in transactions from another app.
- Go to Settings → Backup Data to save a full backup to your device, iCloud or Google Drive — or turn on Automatic Backup to do it every day
- Go to Settings → Import Data to import a CSV or Excel file, or restore a previous backup
- Restoring a backup replaces your current data — you'll be asked to confirm before anything is overwritten
Dark & Light Themes
Expense Tracking includes a polished dark mode and a clean light mode — pick one manually, or let it follow your device's system setting automatically.
- Open Settings → Theme
- Choose Light, Dark, or System (matches your device automatically)
